SUPPORT CONTINUING FOR FLOOD AFECTED COMMUNITIES
A Recovery Assistance Point will re-open in Gunnedah on Friday 10 February, ensuring individuals, families, farmers, and business owners can continue to access support months on from last year’s flood events.
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said the Recovery Assistance Points would bring NSW Government agencies, Commonwealth agencies, the local council, community organisation and welfare bodies back to the Salvation Army Hall between the hours of 1 and 6pm.
“While last years floods may seem like a distant memory for many of us, there are still those in our communities who are feeling the effects of ongoing flooding events,” Mr Anderson said.
“Recovery Assistance Points were set up on a number of occasions last year and proved helpful to those navigating their way through the range of support on offer.
“Whether you need to replace damaged documents, receive assistance with ongoing clean-up efforts, or are still feeling the effects of the mental anguish disaster events can cause, I strongly encourage everyone who has been affected to pay the Salvos a visit next Friday.”
Minister for Flood Recovery Steph Cooke said it is important to make accessing support as straightforward as possible.
“The aftermath of a severe weather event is an incredibly challenging and emotional time, particularly for those who have experienced flood after flood,” Ms Cooke said.
“Our Recovery Assistance Points will continue to be stood up across NSW wherever and whenever they are needed, to connect individuals, families, farmers and business owners with a range of services and offer support, as they begin the recovery process.”
The Recovery Assistance Point will operate at the Gunnedah Salvation Army Hall, 30 Tempest Street, Gunnedah from 1pm to 6pm on Friday 10 February 2023.
