NEW TRAINING OPPORTUNITY FOR LOCAL STUDENTS
Tamworth and Gunnedah TAFE will now be delivering a new manufacturing and engineering career pathway course thank to the work of local industry.
The 6-month Certificate II in Engineering pathways course will give students an introduction to the industry and prepare them for a career in manufacturing and engineering.
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said local industry had been working with TAFE NSW to make it easier for people to get into local industries.
“Engineering and manufacturing are a huge part of the Tamworth economy with 8.6% of our workforce working in the industries.
“Workforce shortages are a significant issue for the industry, and businesses have been leading the way, coming up with creative ways to bring people into their businesses.
“A lot of hard work behind the scenes has now resulted in a great opportunity for local people who might be interested in getting into the engineering and manufacturing industries.
“The Certificate II in Engineering Pathways is a NSW Government subsidised course that will prepare students for a career in the industry.
“I would encourage anyone who is either in school or looking at a career change to consider taking up this opportunity, and gaining the skills you need to get into one of our largest local industries.”
