MANILLA SHOWGROUND PAVILLION RECEIVES MUCH-NEED MAKEOVER

Manilla Showground pavilion has a new lease on life this year with $36,521 of NSW Government funding being spent to refurbish the inside of the pavilion and improve security.

The funding comes as part of the 2020 Community Building Partnerships fund.

Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said this funding would help ensure that the Manilla Show Society would be able to continue to host their vital community events.

“It’s great to get funding into community showgrounds.” Mr Anderson said.

“Showgrounds are such a vital community asset so I am always willing to support Jim (Maxwell) and LouEllen (Overton) when they request support for funding.”

When asked what the funding would do for the showgrounds, Cr Jim Maxell said it would “Secure our Pavilion.”

“We’re very thankful for our local member Kevin Anderson to enable us to get the grant to do that.” Cr Maxwell said.

“It brightens it all up, makes it secure which is very important for people who exhibit in our show at any point in time.”

Manilla Show Society Secretary and Treasurer LouEllen Overton said the internal refurbishment was beautiful.

“We’ve got a lovely clean space that’s inviting, it’s light and it’s going to be a useable space for the whole community.” Mrs Overton said.

This funding comes as Tamworth Regional Council were recently awarded $176,639 to refurbish the pavilion, ensuring it remains a valuable community asset for years to come.
