HAVE YOUR SAY ON THE IMPACT OF RENEWABLE ENERGY ZONES
A NSW Parliament inquiry into the impact of Renewable Energy Zones (REZs) on rural and regional communities and industries gives local residents a chance to have their say on large-scale renewable energy projects.
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson MP is encouraging residents to make a submission to the inquiry.
“A parliamentary inquiry into the impact of renewable energy zones will be welcomed by local landowners, farmers, families and rural communities who have legitimate strong concerns about the impact of renewable energy developments across the region,” Mr Anderson said.
“The Tamworth electorate mostly sits outside of the New England Renewable Energy Zone. Despite this, there are several large-scale renewable energy projects in development across the region.
“Concerns range from visual impacts, transport, impact on local roads, construction impacts, bushfire, lack of consultation, the planning process, and decision making.
“It’s time these concerns were heard, which is why I’m encouraging impacted residents to make a submission to the parliamentary inquiry.”
Submissions can be made online through the NSW Parliament website. The closing date of submissions is 31 January 2025.
Further information on the inquiry, including the terms of reference can also be found online.
