DISASTER RECOVERY POINT RE-OPENS IN GUNNEDAH

Gunnedah’s Recover Assistance Point will re-open at the Salvation Army Hall this Friday and Saturday, ensuring that those who have been affected by flooding know that Government support is continuing.

Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said the recovery assistance point had proved incredibly helpful for flood affected communities as they brought together NSW Government agencies, Commonwealth agencies, Gunnedah Shire council, community organisations, and welfare bodies together under one roof.

“We know that the effects of flooding are felt for weeks after the event as those most significantly affected rebuild their lives and replace essential documents and household items,” Mr Anderson said.

“That’s why we’re re-opening Gunnedah’s Disaster Recovery Point to help support those who may have been doing it tough in the weeks since the last flood.

“Whether you need to replace damaged documents, receive assistance with the physical clean-up, access emergency accommodation or utilise mental health services, I encourage everyone who has been impacted by the flooding in the Gunnedah shire to visit.”

Minister for Flood Recovery Steph Cooke said it is important to make accessing support as straightforward as possible.

“This is an incredibly challenging and emotional time, particularly for those who have experienced flood after flood,” Ms Cooke said.

“Our Recovery Assistance Points continue to be stood up across NSW to connect individuals, families, farmers and business owners with a range of services and offer support, as they begin the long and difficult clean-up, rebuilding and recovery process.”

The Recovery Assistance Point will open at the Salvation Army Hall on Friday 2 December from 10am to 4pm and Saturday 3 December from 10am to 2pm.
