COMMUNITY SAFETY BOOSTED BY NEW POLICE

New police officers have commenced duties in the Tamworth and Gunnedah communities, meaning more boots on the ground to keep our communities safe.

Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson welcomed the region’s two new Probationary Constables, PC Tyler Bailey and PC Tye McMahon.

“Today, two more police join the ranks of the Oxley Police District, beginning their careers serving the Gunnedah and Tamworth communities,” Mr Anderson said.

“Probationary Constables are an important part of the local police force, undertaking a wide range of jobs including responding to domestic issues, motor vehicle accidents, stealing offences and other incidents.

“Our newest Probationary Constables will be well supported by experienced officers within the district who will continue to guide them through their first 12 months on the job.

“Community safety continues to be a focus for local police, and I’m continuing to push for greater resources to support them.

“Our community has been calling on greater police resources. The Time for Change petition reached 22,015 signatures and will be debated later this month. I look forward to bringing the petition to parliament on behalf of the community and calling for greater police resources, tougher laws, and consequences for actions.

“I also want a division of PolAir to be based in Tamworth, giving local police support from the air, and I’ll continue to call on the Labor Government to get on top of the crime issue in our region.”

Probationary Constables Bailey and McMahon reported for duty in Tamworth and Gunnedah today and will complete 12 months of on-the-job training under the supervision and support of senior local police.
