BUILDER APPOINTED TO DELIVER GUNNEDAH HOSPITAL

Hunter New England Health in partnership with Health Infrastructure have announced that Richard Crookes Construction would soon commence construction on the $53 million Gunnedah Hospital redevelopment.

Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said he was looking forward to seeing construction get underway, but he would still be advocating for additional funds to be allocated to deliver the hospital in full.

“The Labor government has said that the cost of construction has increased and some services including Renal and Chemotherapy that were signed off by the community will not be included. The plan for the redeveloped hospital was in consultation with staff, stakeholders and the community.

“I have been working hard to convince the government to allocate further funding to the project and the community has an expectation that the original plan will be delivered. “

“I’ll continue to do what I need to do to encourage the government to address the concerns of the Gunnedah community and deliver the hospital in full.”

A redeveloped Hospital for Gunnedah will provide modern health facilities for the growing community and attract more medical professionals the region.

The first stage of works will include the refurbishment of the former administration building. During this stage, the carpark and entrance off Reservoir Street will remain open. Further information about the next stage of works will be shared soon.

“The redevelopment will also create local jobs with Richard Crookes Constructions looking to employ local contractors and suppliers to work on the project.

Richard Crookes Constructions have previously been engaged to deliver the early works for the Gunnedah Hospital and will be erecting fencing and sheds for the main work in coming weeks with construction to begin in early 2024.
