SUPPORT FOR WERRIS CREEK CWA
Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson has praised the work of community groups as they continue assisting others through these tough times. Kevin was thrilled to have the opportunity to support the Werris Creek CWA as they sought $4000 in emergency discretionary funding to cover ongoing costs and continue to support families affected by the drought and COVID-19.
FREE DIARY AVAILABLE TO LOCAL SENIORS INFORMING THEM OF THEIR RIGHTS
Seniors are encouraged to collect the a cope of the 2021 ‘ Legal topics for older people’ diary to help them plan for the year ahead. Diaries can now be collected from the office of Kevin Anderson.

Grant’s are now available for the benefit of local seniors. Applications for the NSW Seniors Festival Grants Program are now open to help seniors stay connected and active.
EXCITING CAREERS ON DISPLAY AT TAFE NSW INFOFEST
The annual TAFE NSW local InfoFest showcase is here to encourage local school leavers and job seekers to explore their vocational training options. The 2021 InfoFest will feature some of the hundreds of free-free or low cost courses announced under the NSW Government’s JobTrainer program.
ROAD SAFETY WORK BEGINS AT KOOTINGAL
An $8 million project to deliver safety improvements to the New England Highway between Sandy and Braefarm Roads at Kootingal has begun.
The funding is a part of a wider $50 million program to improve safety on the New England Highway between Uralla and Willow Tree.
PERMANENT WERRIS CREEK HONOUR GUARD
The Werris Creek RSL Sub Branch has received $5,500 to erect four life-size, laser cut-outs at the town’s war memorial as a tribute to the four arms of our defence forces.
The Honour Guard Cut-outs depict figurines representing the Army, Navy, Air Force and Women’s Services.
WIN-WIN FOR WALCHA MEN’S SHED, SCOUTS ASSOCIATION
A NSW Government grant of $325,200 will benefit two Walcha organisations and help set the benchmark for similar venture across the state.
The Stronger Country Communities funding has been provided to enable the Walcha Men’s Shed to move into the currently disused Walcha Scouts premises.
HEAVENLY GAZE BRINGS EARTHLY REWARDS
Today’s handing over of keys by Tamworth Regional Council to the Tamworth Regional Astronomy Club paves the way for finishing work at Tamworth’s new Regional Astronomy and Science Centre.
With a NSW Government contribution of $1.8 million, the centre is set to become a landmark for budding stargazers, provide educational opportunities for students and promote Tamworth across the world a place for researchers and astronomers to visit.

BOOST FOR TAMWORTH ELECTORATE NOT-FOR-PROFIT PRESCHOOLS
A funding boost for Tamworth electorate not-for-profit preschools will deliver improvements for service providers as well as for staff, parents and especially the kids!
23 allocations totalling more than $289,000 include over $7,000 to Tamworth’s St Peter’s Preschool for replacement furniture.
The preschool was recently visited by the Minister for Education and Early Childhood Learning, Sarah Mitchell (pictured).
$40,000 TO HELP DOMESTIC VIOLENCE VICTIMS AND THEIR PETS IN THE TAMWORTH ELECTORATE
Frontline domestic violence services in the Tamworth electorate will benefit from $40,000 in additional funding to support more victim-survivors and their pets.
The Tamworth Family Support Service and the Gunida Gunyah Aboriginal Corporation will use the funds to provide animal enclosures and provide other services under the Pets and Animal Welfare Support (PAWS) Grants Program.
TAMWORTH AND GUNNEDAH TAFE TO BENEFIT FROM $100 MILLION BOOST
TAFE NSW campuses in Tamworth and Gunnedah are set to benefit from their share of a $100 million state-wide investment in TAFE NSW facilities and equipment.
The key to obtaining a great job is having access to the best training and facilities. Investment in training is also critical to the success of our state’s economy.
HIDDEN TREASURE PRESENTATION
It was privilege to formally acknowledge one of Walcha’s Hidden Treasures.
Pauline Levingston was added to the 2020 Hidden Treasures Honour Roll for her outstanding commitment to the Walcha community over many decades.
Her well-deserved certificate and 2020 Honour Roll Booklet was presented in the company of Walcha Mayor, Eric Noakes and members of Pauline’s family.
BUSHFIRE COMMUNITY RECOVERY AND RESILIENCE FUND DELIVERS $250,000 FOR WALCHA
Walcha communities will benefit from a $250,000 grant under the Bushfire Community Recovery and Resilience Fund. Walcha Council is using the money to support community recovery, resilience and preparedness with a focus on mental and physical health.
TAMWORTH LAUNCHES NEW PACEMAKER INSERTION SERVICE
Tamworth Hospital’s new Pacemaker Insertion Service is a huge win for the region, saving cardiac patients a time consuming and expensive trip to Newcastle for the lifesaving intervention.
Most importantly, regional patients needing a pacemaker fitted can now look forward to an improved lifestyle far more quickly.
PRESTIGIOUS COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD HONOUR
It was an honour to present NSW RFS Group Captain Peter Stevenson with a prestigious NSW Government Community Service Award for his outstanding service during the 2019-20 bushfires.
We are truly fortunate to have someone of Peter’s calibre in our community, who has gone ‘above and beyond’ in his service to others through the RFS.
BREAKTHROUGH FOR MENTAL HEALTH CARE
Fantastic news for the future of mental health care, patients and their carers with the selection of a site for a new ‘Banksia’ Mental Health Unit. It will be constructed next to the main Tamworth Hospital building, in close proximity to the emergency department, and physically connected to existing hospital services, integrating mental health with other acute services
$100,000 STIMULUS FOR SHEBA DAMS UPGRADE
The NSEW Government is providing $100,000 under its COVID-19 stimulus program to upgrade the Sheeba Dams. The twin dams and associated reserve provide a beautiful setting for camping, picnicking and trout fishing. The new work will include maintenance on the earth embankment walls and other improvements.
