SUPPORT VETERANS’ FAMILIES ONLINE THIS LEGACY WEEK
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson is encouraging the community to support veterans’ families this Legacy Week, by purchasing a badge or pen for this year’s annual appeal to care for the families of veterans who have served for our country.
This Legacy Week, I am asking everyone to dig deep and consider donating online to show our support to these servicemen and women and their families,” Mr Anderson concluded.
CONTRACTS SIGNED FOR GUNNEDAH’S DOMESTIC VIOLENCE REFUGE
The new Gunnedah Domestic Violence Refuge takes another step forward with the signing of building contracts for the brand new purpose built facility by Jobs Australia and GJ Gardner Homes.
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said this is a great step moving forward to ensure much needed services for Gunnedah including access to late night emergency accommodation and provide safety, security and support.

Great to join NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro to announce the NSW Government contribution of $14 million to the Gunnedah Regional Saleyards upgrade. This is huge news for Gunnedah and our whole region.
BERT EVANS SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED TO TAMWORTH APPRENTICE
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson met with inspirational young apprentice Patrick (Patty) Fogg to present him with his $15,000 Bert Evans Scholarship.
Mr Anderson said Patty was a deserving recipient of the Bert Evans Scholarship which provides financial support to apprentices who have experienced hardship in their life.
“I first met Patty at Tamworth High School while he was undertaking his Certificate III in Painting and Decorating as a school based traineeship. Patty’s is a story of persistence and overcoming challenges to accomplish his dreams.

DRIVERS URGED TO SLOW DOWN TO SAVE LIVES THIS RURAL ROAD SAFETY MONTH
Drivers travelling in the Tamworth electorate are being urged to slow down this Rural Road Safety Month, with more than two-thirds of the lives lost on NSW roads occurring in the country.
SAFER JOURNEYS SLATED FOR NEW ENGLAND HIGHWAY
Works to improve the road surface of a 3.4-kilometre section of the New England Highway at Swamp Creek, about 35 kilometres south of Tamworth have started.
$428,000 HOME BASES FOR NAMOI RIVER RURAL FIRE BRIGADE
The Namoi River Rural Fire Brigade covers a large area including Warrabah National Park and Split Rock Dam and thanks to the $428,000 investment in these new sheds they can get to their trucks faster in an emergency no matter where it is in their area.

It was with great pride that I attended the new $5.4 million South Tamworth Fire Station opening. Our firefighters do an extraordinary job and this new state of the art facility will allow them to do the job they do best - protecting our community.

During the last bushfire season our emergency services were really tested and they came through with flying colours. the new mitigation teams will be a great addition to our existing hard working emergency services and create more jobs in regional areas.

It was great to welcome the four new probationary constables who have arrived in Tamworth to start their careers serving their community. What a great boost for the our community and more police in our region.

These awards are a fantastic way of highlighting the achievements of women and encouraging them to continue to be role models in the eyes of their peers. These awards play an important role in celebrating women from all walks of life, like last year’s NSW Regional Woman of the Year finalist Tamworth’s Edwina Sharrock.
SUPPORT FOR BUSHFIRE-IMPACTED SMALL BUSINESSES EXTENDED
Last season’s bushfires were devastating for communities like Walcha, Yarrowitch, Nowendoc and the Moonbi Hills and now these communities recovering from the bushfires will have more time to apply for the small business grants without the stress of missing out.
GAROO ROAD OPENS FOR HEAVY VEHICLES AND SAFER TRIPS
Locals, farmers and trucking companies who use the Garoo Road will have reduced travel time and safer trips thanks to the completion of upgrades to this important road.
The upgrades will allow for heavier vehicles, including B-doubles to travel along Garoo Road so local livestock and produce can be moved more efficiently saving travel time to their destination.
SAY GOODBYE TO THE KELVIN ROAD DUST BOWL
Local road users in the Gunnedah Shire will be eating dust no more thanks to $4 million to seal Kelvin Road making it safer for everyone to use.
These works will be carried out in the Gunnedah Shire, along with the already funded upgrades to Grain Valley Way in partnership with the Hon Mark Coulton MP, Mystery Road, Clifton Road, the new roundabout on Boundary Road and my election commitment of $9 million towards sealing Rangari Road.
COUNTRY RAIL CUSTOMERS SAFER THANKS TO CCTV UPGRADES
Country rail customers are set to benefit from safety upgrades to security CCTV at three stations across the Tamworth region.
To mark the start of Rail Safety Week, Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has announced new multi-lens security cameras will be installed at Gunnedah, Tamworth and Werris Creek stations to improve customer safety.
Rail Safety Week is an annual community awareness week and runs from Monday 10 August 2020 to Sunday 16 August 2020.
WARRIORS AND KNIGHTS HEADED TO TAMWORTH FOR TRANS-TASMAN NRL CLASH
Country footy fans will be set for a cracking game of NRL with the New Zealand Warriors and Newcastle Knights headed to Tamworth for a Trans-Tasman clash on 29 August 2020.
GP services re-established at Gunnedah Rural Health Centre
Gunnedah’s Rural Health Centre will remain in public hands after the facility was handed over to the Local Health District today to bolster the delivery of health services for the community.
I want to thank our local Federal Member for Gunnedah Mark Coulton MP who worked hard to secure the building for the community.
Many community members including The Health Services Committee, Gunnedah PRAMS, and The Hospital Auxiliary contacted me and said they wanted the facility to stay in public hands.
The community also fund-raised for the Health Centre when it was being built – so today was a great result. I will also be looking at how this Centre can play a part in the $53 million redevelopment of the Gunnedah Hospital.
I want these facilities to be the catalyst to attract new doctors to the region and be part of a health centre of excellence for Gunnedah.
