HIDDEN TREASURES AND LOCAL CHAMPIONS RECOGNISED
Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson has announced and congratulated the community volunteers acknowledged on the 2020 Hidden Treasures Honour Roll.
The Honour Role, an initiative of the NSW Government’s Rural Women’s Network, recognises women for their valuable volunteer roles and the outstanding contribution they provide.
ATC FOUNDATION AWARDS THIRD ROUND OF COMMUNITY DONATIONS
Minister for Racing and Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson joined with The Australian Turf Club Foundation today to announce a third round of grants for community organisations across NSW.
A further $100,000 raised from on course fundraising, saddle cloth auctions and sales of merchandise at major racing carnivals will be distributed through the Australian Turf Club’s charitable arm.
CALL FOR BUDGET FUNDING OF GUNNEDAH HOSPITAL UPGRADE
Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson is calling on the NSW Government to release funding to start the planning of the redevelopment of Gunnedah Hospital.
“The Government’s commitment to provide for a $53 million redevelopment is welcome but it needs to be backed by cold hard cash,” Mr Anderson said.
“With the NSW Budget to be delivered next month, I am calling on the Government to include funding that will accelerate the planning process.
STRICT NEW LAWS TO REGULATE SHORT-TERM RENTALS
Short-term rental accommodation hosts, guests, letting agents and online booking platform operators will soon be subject to strict new laws with a mandatory Code of Conduct for the industry to begin in December.
Minister for Better Regulation and Innovation Kevin Anderson said the new Code, which was released today, includes clear guidance and obligations for hosts and guests centred on minimum standards of good behaviour.
FISHERS REMINDED TO REEL IN THEIR SHARE OF $20 MILLION
Passionate fishers in the Tamworth region have only until Friday to get their applications in for $20 million in funding available through the Recreational Fishing Trust grants.
Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson said the grants can be used for new facilities, more fish stocking, research, and education programs.
$1.1 MILLION TO ASSIST WALCHA BUSHFIRE RECOVERY
Locals in bushfire-impacted Walcha will soon enjoy the benefits of upgrades to their local swimming pool thanks to the Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund, co-funded by the NSW and Commonwealth Governments.
Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson today announced $1.1 million in funding for refurbishments at the pool.
$192 MILLION TO FUND BUSHFIRE INQUIRY INITIATIVES
The community will be boosted by the funding of initiatives in response to the independent NSW Bushfire Inquiry including, new equipment for firefighters, night-time aerial firefighting, enhanced strategic fire trails and improvements to local emergency infrastructure.
Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson said the package is just the beginning of the Government’s response to the Inquiry.
BOWLERS LANE SEALING DRIVES FREIGHT EFFICIENCY
A $1.8 million upgrade to seal a section of Bowlers Lane between the Oxley Highway and Wallamore Road to allow for B-doubles, will more than double freight tonnage into the Tamworth industrial area.
Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson said Bowlers Lane was previously only accessible to general access vehicles.
$53 MILLION GUNNEDAH HOSPITAL UPGRADE ON TRACK
Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson has welcomed progress on upgrading important health services for the Gunnedah region.
The redevelopment will include new health facilities and upgraded clinical services.

Young people from across the Tamworth electorate are being encouraged to apply to be a part of next year’s Regional Youth Taskforce, a Ministerial advocacy group which will have a direct line to government to raise local issues faced by friends and classmates.
FISHERS TO REEL IN THEIR SHARE OF $20 MILLION FOR LOCAL PROJECTS
Local fishers have been encouraged to apply for $20 million in funding through Recreational Fishing Trust grants to help fund projects in their area to improve and promote recreational fishing.
Applications close on 30th October and are open to all in the recreational fishing industry, including clubs and organisations, community groups, and councils.
