IS THERE A DOCTOR IN THE HOUSE? NEW FACES COME TO THE BUSH WITH SCHOLARSHIPS
Up to 50 scholarships worth $3000 each are available to junior doctors embarking on careers as Rural Generalists in regional, rural and remote NSW.
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said the new scholarships, available in 2020, will be awarded to junior doctors who start advanced skills training in the NSW Rural Generalist Medical Training Program (RGTP).
“This is fantastic news for regional centres like Tamworth.
“The Rural Generalist Medical Training Program plays a key role in developing a medical workforce with advanced skills to serve our local communities.
“The introduction of these new scholarships will further encourage and support trainees to embark on fulfilling rural careers with exposure to a wide, varied and interesting range of clinical practice.
“In 2020, Hunter New England Local Health District has a range of RGTP positions available in the speciality areas of obstetrics, emergency and paediatrics.
“Successful applicants will join a passionate cohort of health professionals in our local hospital who are committed to providing our local communities with access to quality and specialised healthcare that’s close to home.
“I encourage and urge junior doctors considering a rural career to apply,” Mr Anderson concluded.
Recruitment continues for 2020 with trainees commencing advanced skills training through HETI’s RGTP in 2020 receiving the $3000 scholarship. Those already recruited for 2020 will also receive the scholarship.
